Wiltshire College & University Centre have an exciting opportunity for a Trainer/Assessor in Residential Childcare to join our team.

Location: Campus closest to home location, with travel to all sites.

Salary: £28,168 - £39,244 per annum (Trainer/Assessor Pay Grade 5 – 13) (Dependant on skills, qualifications & experience) 

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time 37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year

Trainer/Assessor in Residential Childcare – The Role:

We are seeking a dedicated Trainer/Assessor in residential childcare to join our team. You'll support apprentices both remotely and within their workplaces and includes all aspects of training, assessment, adherence to Quality Assurance and regulatory standards, using OneFile e-portfolio for planning, assessments, and feedback. You'll support and motivate a caseload of learners, integrating key topics such as safeguarding, British values, and EDI into your sessions. You'll manage communication with learners and their line managers, ensuring progress and implementing action plans as needed.

Trainer/Assessor in residential childcare - Key Responsibilities:

As a Trainer/Assessor in residential childcare you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our students. Here is what you will be doing:

  • Be the bridge between industry needs and classroom learning.

Compliance Champion

  • Regularly monitor learner environments to ensure safety and adherence to policies.
  • Keep up to date with teaching, learning, and assessment regulations.
  • Champion best practices and uphold our commitment to excellence. 

Trainer/Assessor in Health and Care – You:

We are looking for someone who embodies passion, expertise, and dedication.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Hold a relevant Residential Childcare qualification at Level 3 or a qualification appropriate to this sector.
  • Possess or be willing to work towards an assessor qualification (within 6 months of appointment).
  • You will have worked in a Residential Childcare position within last 12 months, working with children and young people looked after by their local authority.
  • You will have supported the families of the children and young people you have cared for, including liaising with relevant external agencies.
  • This role will require travel around Wiltshire, Bristol and may include other residential childcare homes beyond Wiltshire’s borders.
